Does God punish people who try to do right?

From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham The Bible says that “whom the Lord loves He [disciplines]” (Hebrews 12:6). Believers are not immune to God’s chastening. The Biblical story of Jonah reveals that before God could use Jonah, Jonah first had to humble himself and repent. Only then would God use him to preach the Gospel to a pagan culture. Jonah is one who thought he could escape from the Lord—he found out differently. He was called to preach to rebellious Nineveh (the area today that is known as Mosul, Iraq), but instead he rebelled against God’s call. This miraculous story proves that God’s eyes are everywhere and that He devises retribution and punishment to bring about eternal blessing in response to repentance. Jonah resented the fact that God was sending him to the “great city” (Jonah 1:2), the capital of Israel’s pagan neighbor, Assyria. He didn’t believe the people of Nineveh deserved God’s salvation. So he did the very thing he was called to preach against—he

How to appreciate an imperfect spouse. part-8

8) Ask God to Change You. As soon as you begin offering prayers of thankfulness for your spouse, be sure of this: the enemy of your soul and the would-be destroyer of your marriage will remind you where your mate falls short. You can count on it. You’ll find yourself growing resentful: “Why should I thank God that my husband works hard when he comes home and won’t even talk to me at night?” “Why should I thank God that my wife has always been faithful to me when she’s so critical?” You need to respond to this temptation with a healthy spiritual exercise: as soon as you recall your spouse’s weaknesses—the very second those poor qualities come to mind—start asking God to help you with specific weaknesses of your own. That’s right—as backward as this may sound, respond to temptations to judge your mate by praying for God to change you. Go into prayer armed with two lists: your spouse’s strengths, and your weaknesses. This exercise will help maintain a positive spiritual balanc

Hebrews...:– 6:13–20 Exodus..:- 1—2 Psalms..:- 40 I read in the Bible in Hebrews 6:13 that as God made a promise to Abraham and found no one greater than Him to fulfill the promise, God made a promise to Abraham by taking an oath of his own accord and said that I would give you more I will increase your lineage a lot and I will also give blessings. And as we know, in the Bible, in Exodus 1 and 2, we read about how God greatly blessed and raised Jacob and his children in Egypt. And we read that as it is written in the Bible, how in Egypt they had to suffer a lot and had to endure many troubles, and even in the days of trouble, God increased Israel greatly and Israel people began to flourish; And they went on becoming exceedingly powerful; And they grew so much that the whole country was filled with them. But God saw their suffering and heard their cry which was coming out because of the hard service that cry reached to God and God remembered his promise which he had made to

Fear of God (love).

Note :- The fear of God in the Bible is not the fear of God, but the love of God is love. The fear (love) of God is at the core of wisdom; The Fear of God (Love) Is the Beginning of Our Wisdom And he who fears (love) God understands the word of God and the word is Jesus Christ himself. And those who fear God (love) know wisdom and teaching with the help of God's word and talk about understanding. And the one who fears (love) God increases his wisdom of knowledge by the wisdom of God and becomes wiser and gets instruction, finds wisdom in leading his wise life and attains discipline (intellect) in the subjects of dharma, justice and fairness. God's love is very much needed in life When a man's life is in trouble, it is full of suffering, then God's love will help him. Gives proficiency in subsistence, gives discipline in life. And those who despise the word of God have no root of wisdom. Those who do not have the fear of God (love) despise wisdom and educatio
