Jesus prophesied Peter's death when he said to him, "Truly, truly, I tell you, when you were young, you girded your waist and walked wherever you wanted; But when you are old, you will lengthen your arms, and another will tie you around your waist and take you wherever you do not want to." (John 21:18) And John elaborated, “By these things he showed what death Peter would glorify God with; And having said this, he said to him, Follow me." (John 21:19).

According to the apocryphal book of Acts by Andrew, this apostle was martyred by crucifixion in the Greek city of Patras in about 60 AD. Like his brother Peter, Andrew did not consider himself worthy to die like Jesus. And so he was tied to a cross that was hung in an X shape instead of a T shape.

Tertullian, a Christian writer in the 2nd and 3rd centuries, recorded that before the Romans exiled John, they brought him to a coliseum and immersed him in a barrel of boiling oil. And at the same time, which was good weather, there was such a great thunder and lightning that the temple smoldered out of three, and two enchanted by the thunder of the stars turned to embers. And the king buried the bodies of the apostles in his city, and built a church of great greatness in his honor. ,
