What does the Bible mean when it says that when we are weak, we are strong?
From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham The Apostle Paul wrote, “When I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10, NKJV). How is it possible to be both? Paul was stating a very important truth: When we attempt to do God’s work in our own strength instead of God’s strength, we will fail. Only when we acknowledge our weakness and look to the Holy Spirit for the wisdom and strength we need will God bless our efforts. It is true that we can prepare ourselves to teach, to counsel, to volunteer for a mission, or to serve others; but when God empowers us to speak according to His will and His word, we accomplish His purpose. Only God can prepare the hearts of those we witness to. We can do nothing of eternal value without the Lord. When we pray fervently and study the Bible, the Lord will prepare us for service and prepare the hearts of those we serve.
